We are deeply saddened by the new of Ron’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Prayers and fond memories are what we hold onto. I have so many fond memories of time shared with Ron, my cousin and friend.
Growing up we spent numerous evenings and weekends together as our parents played cards, enjoyed the telling of many stories and jokes, and made music together with my dad playing his accordion.
During harvest time, we gathered together as a family with the men and boys in the fields and our mothers, aunts and cousins inside cooking and laughing. Ron and I and the younger cousins were always busy playing outside.
We had memorable Roemen family picnics at the Rock Rapids Park which were filled with fantastic food, fishing, and running around. These days usually ended with us falling asleep on our way home!
I remember that every Sunday I would see Ron & his family at St. Mary's Church. Week days were spent with the Sisters teaching us at St. Mary's school.
In our teens Ron and I kicked up our heels! We were busy cruising the streets of Larchwood, Rock Rapids, Canton and Sioux Falls.
When Ron got his pilot’s license, there were memorable plane rides with Ron as he avoided high wires, rain and thankfully, always landed safely at Zangaars airport in Larchwood.
As time does it kept on marching forward and we each proudly served our country in the military; Ron in the Army and I in the Marines.
Even though we each became busy raising our families, our faith grew and was shared among friends. We were founding members of St. Mary's Prayer group and our faith life grew and deepened. Many memorable evenings were spent in our back yards making joyful music with guitars leading us in praise and worship songs. Of course those evening also included the roasting of hot dogs and marshmallows which kept the children happy. We all wanted Father Adams to be on our side of the volleyball game as he had a way of helping us win.
Friends gathered one fourth of July at Ron's farm. Ron and his family cleaned out the stock tank and filled it with water for the kids to swim in. Somehow, Mark ended up swimming all by himself, but that's a story for some other time. We set off fireworks and ended the night with some great singing as Trudy played the guitar.
Oh, so many memories just keep coming. We were definitely known for some good old-fashioned high jinx! Gary's old metal USMC sign had a way of popping up in some of the oddest places. We last remember it as it was wrapped so beautifully in a large box and presented as a wedding gift for the marriage of Ron and Henny. We had a good laugh as Ron struggled to unwrap it with Henny looking on.
We retired with many miles separating us; however, you and your family have always been in our heart and prayers. Good bye for now old friend. May the Lord bring us all together again.
Love you cousin, Clarence

Dad on Flash. Dad still talked about this horse. I believe it belonged to Uncle Cletus.
