Donna & family, So very, very sorry to hear about Donald. I’ve got memories from being in Sunday shoes class with him many years ago. My husband and I always enjoyed seeing you different places and we would take time to visit and we so enjoyed that. I grew up in the Lutheran Church in Sheldon and new his family well. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. Sandy (Betten) and husband Alvin Nibbelink

Don was the nicest, most gracious and humble person I have ever met and I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to call him a close friend. We belonged to the same church and my father was his mail carrier. I was blessed to know his parents. We cruised in his '56 Ford, double dated to Arnold's Park and went boating on Lake Okoboji. I remember playing winter basketball with Don's wife Donna and her brother Rich in the Haack barn. I recall Don and his dad cheating death at a corn crib when a ladder touched a power line in the middle of nowhere saved by the miracle of a power company truck coming by at the exact right time. Much later Don cheated death for years fighting cancer. I was blessed to be able to see Don last summer. He told me he was weary and ready for the next phase of his life. I am happy that he is now pain free. I am sad for Donna now having to go on without him but happy that she has an amazing and supportive extended family. You are in my prayers Donna. Rest in peace Don.

My deepest sympathies to Donna, Jill, and Stacie—it was always so nice to see Don at church when I was home. He always made a point to say hello to me and my boys. I will miss that. May God give you peace during this sad time.

To Donna and family, I really sense God needed Don in Heaven-- pronto-- to assist with something He knew only Don could do.. And, Don willingly stepped up to the calling--.knowing he would miss his family would miss him. He needed Don.
I know the season of farming is nigh- as the fields begin to dry, sun shines bright, , the birds- especially Robins chirp chirping, and the aroma of NW Iowa Black Soil becoming poignant...God knew Don was a great farmer. Don knew when the seed would be ready.....Yet God needed him. Thank you my farmer-servant for going.
To Donna, and the family--such a wonderful husband, Dad,& Grandpa--as he will not ever be forgotten. Don made his wife & family first, and then his land.
God has work for us to do, just as He gave His Son work while He was on earth.
I enjoy thinking of our work like the rim of the big, rear tractor tire---there are large spokes on the old wheels that connect to the hub as channels. The hub is our focus, and it's to be centered on fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.
One spoke is Don-- helpful, farmer, friend, Christian, and to. Donna's with her purpose- being a wife, raising the children and then- on and on as the family has grown Or grown to a godly Grandparent- helping, teaching, joking together, and learn God's Word.
Don had been an Archer School Eagle- quite exceptional in track running events, Eagles stay focused on God. That is what you Donna, and family will need to do.- refocus positively. For all others-,grateful of knowing Don--we work at finishing Gods work- together
