Two weeks ago today (2/22/22) my dad was admitted to Mercy One Hospital in Sioux City with what we later discovered was acute leukemia. He died peacefully just 9 days later (3/3/22) while listening to his favorite Alan Jackson hymns, my mom at his bedside. Always a planner, he wrote out his funeral details, including much of the message. My sisters and I wrote the obituary on Saturday. I think he would be so pleased by it. He also would have loved the uniqueness of the dates mentioned above. We will miss many things about him including his dry sense of humor, his love for holidays and family gatherings, and time spent fishing with him at Douma Park and Okoboji. In fact, the last fish he caught was his biggest one yet - for real! He was a great dad, who delighted in spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. We are thankful for the memories we got to make with him, even up to the very end. Rest In Peace, Dad. We love you.
