It was very sad to get the news regarding Gordon's passing. He was my best friend. He was always there - during the good times and difficult times. I also valued his wise counsel. My deepest sympathies to Gordon's family.

I am very sorry to read that Gordy passed away. He was a dedicated farmer and had a great sense of humor. It was always a pleasure for me to see Leyla and Gordy. He is going to be missed. I want to extend my condolence to Leyla and her family.

My sincere condolences to Gordy's family. When I moved to Lake Park in 2018 and worked early morning shift at Stan's Corner, Gordy and his coffee buddies welcomed me to the area. He had to have his donut on a paper plate and if I forgot the paper plate, he would tease me about it. I looked forward to seeing him every morning. He liked to say he was "Living the Dream". I feel blessed knowing Gordy for the short time I did. Sincerely - Darcy Scheerhoorn

Deepest sympathy to Leyla, girls, and all the Fisher family. Gordie was so wise and kind, and a super guy to work for. Always had a smile, always had a laugh. Such a wonderfull family. No matter how long the days on the tractor, and tending the livestock, there was always time set aside, to sit down at the dinner table, thank and Honor God, and enjoy a most delicious meal prepared by Leyla, and of course help from the girls. Rest in peace my friend.

The Lord's peace to Leyla and the family over the loss of Gordon. I was honored to be his pastor and blessed to know this servant of Christ. I am thankful for all the good God was able to work through Gordon for his family, church, and community. The same Lord who keeps His sheep safe to give green pastures also speaks His promise to you, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4).

Heaven just gained a pretty special angel. He is already and will be greatly missed more than one knows. I first met him when I worked at the elevator in Lake Park way back in the day when it was still called Farmer's Exchange. That guy always had a smile on his face and was always happy, good humored and pleasant to be around. He and Dave Fisher were on the Sioux Valley board together and they hired my husband to dig the graves at the Sioux Valley Cemetery for a few years. When Gordy called my husband he would always joke around and tell me he was going to hang around the Fischer twins for the day digging a hole and seeing who they might "bump" into. Literally bump into but never harmed or disturbed in any way whatsoever and with upmost respect with every scoop of dirt that was removed to make that final resting spot just perfect. It is a very old cemetery and records weren't kept up as well back then. They all did their best!!! I can still hear him laugh and was a helluva a guy. Prayers go out to his family, wife and daughters.

Our condolences to the family. I have had coffee with Gordy almost every morning for years. He would have his one large cup of coffee with his special doughnut (the girls at Stan's Corner made just for him) and one large water with ice. When the water was gone he would chew on the ice till it was gone as we fixed all the problems of the world. I met Gordy in the late 70s as a Lakefield boy running around Sioux Valley meeting Velinda (big fish) and Val (little fish) driving around in a big Chrysler. Needless to say I spent the first 5 years scared of him and the last 35 years as a good friend that will truly be missed. Gordy would do anything for anyone. Our sympathy to all of you.

So sorry to hear this, he was a true friend. He was a playmate when I lived only 1/3 mile east of him. Wayne too. Always helpful, giving rides to school activities, more than I remember. A leader when he was President of the FFA, on the football field, and basketball floor. actually he still was in the Sioux Valley Community. The whole area, wherever he was.
My sincere condolences to his wife, girls and spouses, Wayne and his family, Gordon was something to everybody!!!
