Memorial Tribute
Terry "Pete" Bob Wildeman passed from this life at the age of 65 on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at his home in Hartley, IA. He was the son of Peter C. and Jacoba J. (Tammes) Wildeman, born in Sheldon, IA on October 22, 1948. He received his education in the Sheldon School District, graduating from Sheldon High School.
On May 1, 1982, Pete was united in marriage to Jolene Mohni at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, IA. To this union two children were born; Melissa and Matthew.
Pete was a man of many talents, and various interests. He was employed by Culligan Water Systems, as well as the bowling alley, both located in Sheldon, IA. Bowling was a familiar activity to Pete as he had been a pin-setter for Ray's Bowl in Sheldon when he was a kid. He also worked at golf courses in Sheldon, Hartley, and Mitchell, SD. His interest in sports found him spending many hours coaching the Matsters wrestling team. In 1998, he took on the custodial position at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, retiring in 2010.
Not everything was about work for Pete. His musical side was served being a drummer for several years in such bands as The Hooterville Fire Department, Coachmen 4, Mariah and Pony Express. He was also an avid hot-rod enthusiast – not only appreciating the machines, but building them as well. The last one he built was a 1928 Model "A" that he and his son, Matt worked on together. For the past 40 years, he enjoyed attending car shows around the country. If he wasn't helping remodel the house on Matt's acreage or working farm ground for friends, Pete became the "Camp Coordinator" when the family spent time at local campgrounds. He loved to entertain, polish up on his cooking skills, or simply enjoy just being in the company of friends and family. He took great pleasure playing with his faithful Springer Spaniel, Bo. Pete was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.
Left to cherish Pete's memory are his wife, Jolene; children: Melissa Wildeman and fiancé, Tim Moran of Rochester, MN, and Matthew Wildeman of Hartley; siblings: Wilma Niichel, Arnie (Greta) Wildeman, Joey (Wanda) Wildeman, Becky (Mark) Klemme all of Sheldon, and Sherry (Hank) Moeller of Rushville, NE; brother-in-law Gene (Mary) Mohni; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pete Wildeman; sister, Marilyn Pulscher; infant sister, Marlys Wildeman; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Ella Mohni.

Footprints
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonging to him and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
However, I noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most
you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
When you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
Pete's own inspiring words to fellow cancer patients:
"You can either hide in a closet and die,
or you can get out, make the best of it, and live!
Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house
of the Lord forever.
