We were sorry to read of Aud's death and extend our sympathy to his family. We were members of the UCC Church in Hartley and were married, 1959, in the old church, Trinity Evangelical and Reformed. Aud sang at our wedding and Helen played the organ. They have always been church friends even though we have been gone from Hartley. Aud was so good at visiting my Mom, Ione Johnson, at the Assisted Living from time to time when he was visiting Helen.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Coach DeGraaf's family at your time of loss. I was fortunate to get to speak to Coach DeGraaf at our 50th class reunion in 2008. He was my basketball and baseball coach for four years. He not only taught the skills of the game; but, taught us work ethic and sportsmanship. He was very much a positive influence on my life. I send my deepest sympathy to your family. Mr. DeGraaf was my classroom teacher, Sunday school teacher, guidance counselor, and mentor. He encouraged me to attend NWC. He beamed with great pride when I was selected Alumna of the Year in 1999 and came to see me so honored. He planted the seed and encouraged me to get an education. I am still teaching after 45 years! I am proud to have known him.

Ann, Sue, and Mary. Your dad was a very special 1st cousin and was almost like a brother to our dad, Art, when his dad died at a very young age. We heard so many stories from our dad. We enjoyed Aud and Helen at our cousin reunions which started in 1998. They attended through 2006 and hosted us at the Hartley "Taj Mahal" in 2004. We had fun with that!! Please send me funeral brochures that I can give to our cousins when we meet again June 8. We extend our sympathies and God's blessing to you.

Some people leave an indelible mark on your life. I remember like it was yesterday, sitting next to Audley in choir, Ann in the pew ahead, and Helen at the organ. Truly great memories. My deepest sympathies to your family. Audley was always a man of God here and now he is a man with God! I am unable to attend the funeral but my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had the pleasure of serving with Aud as Siouxland Conference Athletic Directors for several years when HMS joined the conference. What a fine AD he was as well as being so easy and pleasant to work with. Aud was just a "class act" and he will be missed by all!! Mary and the entire family of Aud DeGraaf, Our deepest sympathy as you mourn the loss of your precious Dad. You all have been blessed with many treasured memories and his legacy will be carried on within each of you. There are so many scriptures that can offer peace during this time. A few that have been helpful to me are Isaiah 41:10; 2 Corithians 1:4-6; and John 16:22. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. The Frohwein's

I wish to extend condolences to the Degraaf family at this time. Mr. Degraaf was one of those in the Hartley School system who always was pleasant to me as a "student". He was active in my church and as I returned to Hartley in the mid 70's I always would see him with his great smile. He will be missed by those of us who had the pleasure his company.
