Lavon Charlotte Anderson, the daughter of Anson and Olive (Homersham) Pike was born on April 25, 1926 in Huron SD. She moved with her family when she was ten years old to Hartley, IA where she received her education graduating from Hartley High School in 1945. On January 8, 1945, Lavon was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Anderson in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage the couple resided in Hartley their entire married life and raised their four children. Lavon was a stay-at-home mom and cherished every moment of her children's lives. She served as the Hartley Chamber of Commerce Secretary from 1973 to 1979. Lavon passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the age of 87 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, IA. Lavon was an active member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. She was a 50 year member in the Order of the Eastern Star, and T.T.T. Lavon also belonged to the P.E.O. Chapter CW, Red Hats Ladies Club, Eastern Star State Grand Martha, district instructor and was a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. Her hobbies included golfing at Meadowbrook Golf Course, playing bridge, airplane pilot, crafting and knitting. In 1979 she served as co-chairperson for the Hartley Centennial. Her latest contribution to Hartley was serving on the Cemetery Chapel Committee. Lavon was very well known for her commitment to her family and the town of Hartley. She is survived by her children: Konnie (Craig) Snider of Osage, IA, Michael (Agnes) Anderson of Primghar, IA, and Paul (Retha) Anderson of Easley, SC; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, daughter, Diane Schilmoeller, brother, Clifford Pike, three sisters, Pearl Wright, Lorene Fick and Reva Olhausen.
