I got to know Larry when I spent a couple of years setting up machinery at Ruby Miller in the 1970s as a part time off farm job. I thought he was a 'machinery wizard' even back then. When he worked at Spencer, he repaired my combine more than once during his employment there. He knew John Deere combines inside and out and in my opinion was the best combine technician I ever saw. I enjoyed visiting with him because I always learned something and occasionally ran into him after he retired - those brief interactions were treasured. My thought and prayers are with all of you.

Lois,
On behalf of Paula and I, please accept our condolences for the passing of Larry.
I had the sincere privilege of working with Larry for over 10 years when I moved to Spencer in 1989 when I started Northwest Equipment. Larry was the best. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do with a set of tools. Had a great work ethic and liked his customers.
I smiled when I read the part about a service call to Honduras in 1990. In fact Larry and I made the trip and after arriving at the airport it was discovered Larry’s suitcase had been stolen. The first thing we did was go to a large store and bought all sorts of clothes and a piece of luggage off the rack. We had the opportunity to have a lot of one on one time to just talk. Larry was an interesting man. He loved his family.
RIP my friend. You made an impact on a lot of peoples lives.

Growing up I was allowed to hang out with Uncle Larry and my other Klatt Uncles. With that group it was “work comes first”, fixing fence, baling hay, walking beans, milking, harvest, etc etc. They made it fun while getting the work done. When Sundays rolled around the families would gather for a huge lunch. After lunch there was always a game of baseball and horseshoes. The Uncles would then make homemade ice cream for us. Larry was always right in the middle of it all.
As I got older and out on my own, I was surprised at how many people knew Larry and told me he was the one person they could count on to keep their equipment running, especially balers. He was known as the “baler guy”. He was a very respected mechanic.
Larry was one of those people you respected. He was honest, hard working, and a good family man. The kind of person you could depend on.
Our deepest sympathies to Lois and family. Hopefully the memories of all the good times, friends, and family outings will help ease the pain the pain of your loss.
Sorry we have gone south for the winter and can’t be there. But know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Larry's passing. So many great memories of us all going on camping trips & vacations for years. Eating out together-going to Neeble's Danceland listening and dancing to the Polkas. Rest In Peace now Larry-we'll all see each other again.

We were glad to see Larry when we went back for the Hartley All Class reunion. We grew up as childhood friends with Lori & Linette. The Klatt family was like our second family. We are happy that we got to hug Larry before we left town to go back to Minneapolis. You are in our thoughts Lori, Linette & Lois.
