Obituary of Douglas Dean Daggett

Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Douglas Dean Daggett, son of Gary Lee and LaVonne Darlene (Vos) Daggett, was born in Sheldon, Iowa on August 9, 1960. He grew up in Sanborn, Iowa along with his three siblings; having grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins nearby. He received his education at Sanborn Community School.

On September 21, 1991, Doug was united in marriage to Sheila Ann Schwarzenbach at Lake Park, Iowa. He was first employed at AMPI in Sanborn, then took a position with the Monfort Meat Packing Company located in Worthington, Minnesota. Later, he returned to AMPI and eventually began working for Reitsma Construction, also based in Sanborn. Being outside in the fresh air and sunshine, working hard and “building things” seemed to agree with Doug. He enjoyed living in his hometown, watching his kids and grandkids grow up in a great community.

In 2015, Doug and Sheila moved to Peterson, Iowa to be surrounded by the great outdoors. More time was given to his two favorite pastimes - hunting and fishing. He was a longtime Pheasants Forever member and looked forward to the fall season.

Doug passed from this life on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the age of 62 years. He now joins his father, Gary Daggett, and brother, Duane “Dewey” Daggett who both passed away in 2022; his grandparents: Frank and Sarah Daggett and John and Jessie Vos.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila of Peterson, Iowa; his children: Dustin Daggett of Des Moines, Iowa, Isaiah (Kristi) Daggett of Sanborn, Iowa, Meghan (Nick) Von Muenster of Anamosa, Iowa, Amber (Shawn) Dole, and Tessa Daggett both of Sanborn, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; his mother, LaVonne Daggett of Sanborn, Iowa; sister, Debra (Fred) Glaze of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Dan “Chopper” (Linda) Daggett of Milford, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
