Obituary of Rebecca Jean Jacobsma
Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rebecca Jean Jacobsma, daughter of Gene E. and Carla J. (Miller) Beckman, was born December 27, 1953 at Sanborn, Iowa. She grew up in the Sanborn area along with her brother, Brad and two sisters, Shelli and Suzi. They all received their education at the Sanborn Community School.
On July 21, 1980, Beci was united in marriage to Gregory Jacobsma at Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Sanborn and became parents of four children. Wanting to devote all her attention to her family, Beci postponed starting a career and chose instead to be at home for her children. Once they were all older and enrolled in school, she worked at Lite Form, Paradox Florist and Sanborn Hardware where she enjoyed chatting and visiting with customers. Evenings meant catching the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy or finding a good movie on the Hallmark Channel. Above all, Beci loved spending time with her family and attending all the grandkids’ activities.
On Monday, March 15, 2021, Beci passed from this life at her home in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 67 years. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Bruce (Tracy) Jacobsma of Orange City, Iowa, Ryan (Becky) Jacobsma of Sanborn, Iowa, Kristin (Matt Robins) Sharp of Sioux City, Iowa, and Gregory (Barb) Jacobsma Jr. of Sanborn, Iowa; siblings: Brad (Rhonda) Beckman of Fairbault, Minnesota, Shelli (Jerry) Niichel of Sanborn, Iowa and Suzi (Bob) Epping of Spirit Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Brook Jacobsma and Evan Burkinshaw, Nick and Joyln Schuetz, Dalton Jacobsma, Kayl and Keevyn Jacobsma, Joshi Jacobsma, Breckin and Leightin Sharp, Micah and Camryn Robins, Noah and Brittany Adams, Alex and Amber Soundy and Emily and Madison Rouse; great-grandchildren: Kye and Elly Adams.
Beci was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Carla Beckman; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Emma (Bornholt) Beckman; and maternal grandparents, Guy and Bertha (Leider) Miller.
Memorials given in honor of Beci may be directed to the family.
