Obituary of Kristin Jean Daggett

Please share a memory of Kristin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kristin Jean “Kris” Daggett, oldest daughter of Daryle Gene and Violet “Vi” Jean (Auen) Daggett, was born February 24, 1955 at Carroll, IA. She spent her youth on the Daggett family farm southwest of Melvin, IA, along with her two sisters, Kathi and Karyl. Life growing up on the farm was always good – even when it involved helping with cooking and cleaning or taking care of farm livestock and pets. Each day, each season, held its own special rewards, and Kris treasured them all. She received her education at Melvin Community School in Melvin, graduating with the class of 1973. After graduation, Kris attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, IA, earning her Bachelor’s degree in music education. The following year, she spent teaching music at North Winneshiek Community School at Decorah, IA, then returned to UNI to complete her Master of Arts degree. Upon graduating from UNI, Kris worked at Allen Hospital School of Nursing in Waterloo, IA as the student services coordinator, then relocated to Chicago, IL where she was employed by Loyola University as a Financial Aid Specialist. Over the past 35 years, she has held various administrative positions at Loyola, most recently as Deputy Registrar. Kris was a member of First United Methodist Church of Evanston, IL, taking part in the church choir and Bell Ringers group as well as playing the flute. Her responsibilities at work kept her days full, but when she did have free time, she enjoyed working on craft and photography projects. She looked forward to returning home every summer and fall to “renew her Farmer’s License”, as she put it. But among all the interests Kris had, nothing quite compared to time spent with her family – her nieces, nephew and their children. On Tuesday, March 3, 2020, Kris passed from this life at the age of 65 years. Preceding her were her grandparents: Frank and Sarah Daggett, Henry and Eunice Auen, and grandmother, Alice Morley Auen. Keeping her memory close at heart are her parents, Vi and Daryle Daggett of Sanborn, IA; sisters: Kathi (Dick) Swartz of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Karyl (Kim) McCarty of North Liberty, IA; one nephew; three nieces; five great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
