Obituary of Beverly Jean Wiersma

    Beverly Jean Wiersma, the daughter of Jacob and Lena (Dickman) Bress, was born on April 1, 1933 near Melvin, Iowa. She spent her youth, and received her education in Sheldon, Iowa.

    On November 23, 1950, Beverly was united in marriage to Orville Wiersma. They made their home in Sheldon for most of their married life, and were blessed with four children: Karen, Cindy, Julie and Dennis.

    Throughout her life, Beverly was employed at several businesses, including Ben Franklin and JCPenney in Sheldon and Sanborn Drug and Paradox in Sanborn, Iowa. She also drove school bus for several years. Even with her busy schedule, she still managed to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. 

    Beverly loved traveling, and visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting and beadwork.

    On Sunday, May 20, 2018, with her daughter, Karen by her side, Beverly passed from this life at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota having reached the age of 85.

    Left to cherish her memory are her children: Karen Brown and her husband, Mike of Sutherland, Iowa, Cindy Prevo and her husband, Mark of Bloomfield, Iowa, Julie Waterman and her husband, Todd of Nixa, Missouri, and Dennis Wiersma of Cherokee, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Travis (Leigh) Brown, Chad (Elizabeth) Brown, Kevin (Angela) Prevo, Jason (Amanda) Prevo, Kyle (Clarissa) Prevo, Matthew (Samantha) Waterman, Christina (Kyle) Colman, Danielle (Jeff) Lotthammer; twenty great-grandchildren; five sisters: Doris (Milt) Harper-Johnson, Ardis (Dick) Uittenbogaard, Vione (Vernon) Nieuwenhuis, LaDone (Darrel) Schnurr, and Janey (Jerry) Westra; other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Kenneth Bress; and one great-grandson, Trevor Brown.
