Obituary of Donald William Wingert

    Donald William "Bill" Wingert, son of Robert B. and Thecla (Babbit) Wingert, was born December 1, 1933 at Dayton, Iowa. He received his education at Duncombe, Iowa; following graduation from Duncombe High School, he attended St. John's Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota, as well as Mount St. Bernard Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
    On June 4, 1960, Bill was ordained a Catholic priest at the Cathedral in Sioux City, Iowa. First Mass was celebrated at Duncombe, Iowa on June 6, 1960.
    Over his years in the ministry, Fr. Wingert served as a Catholic priest in various parishes throughout the Iowa Diocese of Sioux City beginning June 4, 1960 until his retirement on July 15, 1993. He then settled in Hartley, Iowa where he resided until his death on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the age of 83.
