Obituary of Orville Lowell Rusch

Memorial Tribute

    Orville Lowell Rusch, son of Arthur and Gladys (Schlarbaum) Rusch, was born on February 11, 1922 in Lake Park, IA. He spent his youth on a farm north of Everly were he attended country school through the 8th grade.  Orville attended Everly High School were he graduated with the class of 1941.  Following his school years he worked as a hired man for a local farmer until 1945.  He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country from May of 1945 to October of 1946.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, Orville returned home and began farming North of Everly.
       On February 4, 1951 Orville was united in marriage to Evelyn Dieterich at the Presbyterian Church in Lake Park, IA.  They began their life together on a farm north of Everly until 1955, when they moved to a farm south of Hartley. Orville and Evelyn lived there until moving into the town of Hartley in 1985.  The couple were blessed with two sons Kent and Keith.  Following his farming career, Orville drove truck for C.E.A for 19 years retiring at the age of 89.  Orville passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, IA at the age of 95.
    He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.  He belonged to the Trinity Brotherhood and served as their treasurer for many years. Orville served on the O'Brien County Fair Board for eleven years, as well as served as a 4-H Leader for 10 years.  Orville was a member of the Hartley American Legion for 70 years, and on the REC Board for 3 years. In their spare time he and Evelyn belonged to a dance club and a card club.  In his earlier years Orville did some hunting and fishing when time allowed.
    Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Keith on August 1, 1996; a sister and her husband, LaVerna and Marv Underwood; a brother and his wife, Wilbert and Melva Rusch.
    Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Evelyn of Hartley, IA; son Kent Rusch of Hartley, IA; daughter-in-law, Lynnette (Kevin) Soden of Hartley, IA; grandchildren: Alyssa Rusch, Hailey Rusch, Lexie Rusch, Kianna Rusch and Turner Soden; two great grandsons: Declan Riedesel and Greyson Seidel;  other relatives and friends.
