Obituary of Jay Schiphoff

Jay Eldon Schiphoff was born on January 31, 1966 in Sheldon, IA; the son of Andrew and Ruth (Bultsma) Schiphoff. He spent his childhood in the Hartley area; he received his early education at Ocheyedan Christian Elementary, and later graduated from Hartley-Melvin High School in 1984. On February 28, 2004, Jay married Anita Petersen in Milford, IA and the couple settled on a farm near May City, IA. Jay farmed with his dad and worked at Westview Dairy near Harris, IA. Jay was a member of the First Reformed Church of Melvin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita; his “son of his heart”, David Brinkman; his parents, Andrew and Ruth Schiphoff of Hartley, IA; one brother, Dixon and his wife Kari (Soden) Schiphoff and their sons Colton and Dawson of Hartley, IA; two sisters: Nic 'O Lena (Schiphoff) and her husband Larry Bosch and their sons Dylan, Brandon and Jordan of Steen, MN; Daphne (Schiphoff) and her husband Randy Bremer and their children Dalten and Tayler of Ocheyedan, IA; his maternal grandmother, Emma (Dyk) Bultsma of Platte, SD; Anita’s parents, Roy (Dick) and Elaine Petersen and her brother Mike Petersen (who were also very special to Jay); many other relatives and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Charlene (Van Dyk) Schiphoff, and his maternal grandfather, Nicholas Bultsma.
