Memorial Tribute
Floyd Remmers was born in Melvin, IA on November 16, 1910 to Ludwig and Grace (Olinger) Remmers. He spent his childhood years in and around the Melvin area, and attended the Melvin Community School.
On February 24, 1935, he married Emma Boneschans, and to this union, two sons were born. The couple farmed near Melvin until retiring to Sanborn in 1985. Emma passed away on August 1, 1987. Floyd continued living in Sanborn until he entered the Sibley Nursing Home in the fall of 2000. He passed away on June 11, 2006 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Survivors include his sons: Roger and his wife, Margaret Remmers of Melvin, and Larry Remmers of Hartley; three grandchildren: Ryan and his wife, Doris Remmers of Melvin, Chad and his wife, Julie Remmers of Melvin and their children Logan and Dayton, and Troy Remmers of Hartley; two brothers: Emery of Sheldon, IA and Wilbur of Minneapolis, MN; a sister, Evelyn Parks of Thousand Oaks, CA; many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Emma; an infant daughter, Rose Marie; five sisters: Lena, Cora, Viola, Esther and Arlowine; two brothers: Rene and Victor; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Remmers.
Floyd especially enjoyed fishing and gardening during his retirement years. His presence will be missed by many.
