Obituary of Janice Ewert

Memorial Tribute Janice Mae Ewert, daughter of Behrend "Ben" and Lovella (Heeren) Goldhorn, was born at Sibley, IA on October 30, 1949. She attended schools at Pipestone, MN, George, IA and Sanborn, IA, graduating from Sanborn High School with the class of 1967. Following high school, Janice worked for Northwestern Bell in Sheldon, IA. On July 21, 1969, Janice was united in marriage to Bryant Ewert. They were blessed with one daughter, Amy. After their marriage, the couple moved to Woodland, CA where Janice was employed with Pacific Bell Telephone from 1969 until 1982. She then worked as a Nurse's Aid at Prairie View Retirement Home after moving back to Sanborn in 1982; retiring in 2012. Janice always loved to read; free time was spent with her nose in a good book, unless, of course, the San Francisco 49ers or Minnesota Vikings were playing that day! Many shopping trips were enjoyed with Amy; sometimes she'd pick up a new "Precious Moment" figurine to add to her collection. Janice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sanborn where she served as Deacon and Church Secretary. She passed from this life on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the age of 65. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ben and Lovella Goldhorn; her husband, Bryant Ewert; and a nephew, Benjy Goldhorn. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amy Ewert of Garner, IA; sisters: Carla Caraconcea, Marilyn Anderson, and Ronda Laubach; brother and sister-in-law, Corky and Becky Ewert; nephews: Matthew Anderson, Justin Ewert, and Josh Ewert; nieces: Brianna Laubach, and Elizabeth Teague; brothers-in-law, John Caraconcea, Charles Anderson, and Art Laubach; other relatives and friends.
