Memorial Tribute Marlin William Vetter, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2015. Marlin William Vetter, son of Bill and Alice (Berends) Vetter, was born July 19, 1924 on the family farm near Lake Park, IA. Marlin attended Excelsior Community Schools (near Lake Park), and graduated in 1942. On February 22, 1948, Marlin was united in marriage to Ruth Eleanor Ahrenstorff at the May City Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with three children: Becky, Gale, and Gary. Following their marriage, Marlin and Ruth began farming with Ruth’s parents; eventually moving onto the family farm northwest of Hartley, IA. They lived there until they retired in 1985 and moved into the town of Hartley. Marlin was an active member of the Hartley Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his early years, and belonged to the Hartley Gun Club. He was also a member of the Hartley School Board from 1966-1972. Marlin was a true farmer at heart.
