Obituary of Shirley Prine

Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Mae (MacDonald) Prine, daughter of Elmer and Opal (Cross) MacDonald, was born on her grandparent's farm near Panora, IA on August 29, 1925. She attended country school, and graduated from Panora High School. Following graduation, Shirley continued her education by attending Normal Training in order to become a country school teacher. On March 31, 1944, Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert W. Prine, in Des Moines, IA. They were blessed with two daughters, Pamela and Connie. Shirley had been employed at Pop's Diner, which is where she met Bob, and also at the War Plant in Des Moines during World War II. However, Shirley's greatest delight was being a homemaker and taking care of her two girls and later, her grandchildren. From 1944 to 1973, Bob and Shirley lived in various Iowa communities, including Des Moines, Greenfield, Ida Grove, Primghar and lastly, LeMars which is where they chose to make their home for 35 years. Shirley relocated to Sanborn, IA to be closer to her grandchildren. Gardening, camping and fishing trips to Lake Carlos State Park were times she and Bob enjoyed together. Shirley also enjoyed playing Bingo, and found herself to be the winner quite often! Prairie View dances on Friday nights were something she looked forward to, knowing her family would be joining her for the fun. Holidays and family time were precious to her. She was always baking goodies for the kids, including her one-of-a-kind Revel Bars. Shirley leaves a legacy of love for her family. She passed from this life at her home at Prairie View Nursing Home on June 27, 2015 at the age of 89. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Pamela Prine and Connie (Tom) Ginger all of Sanborn, IA; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tammy Ginger, and her friend, Steve Lux of Hartley, IA, Cristy Ginger and daughters: Heather of Sanborn and Haley, and her fiance, Caleb Malenke of Orange City, IA, Tommy (Rachael) Ginger and boys, Cole and Carter of Sanborn, Cody, and friend, Leigha Van Veldhuizen of Iowa City, IA, and Craig of Ankeny, IA, Wendy (Heath) Reitsma and their children, Lacie, Luke and Brianna also of Ankeny.
