Obituary of Arleen Boneschans

Memorial Tribute Arleen Joan Boneschans, daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Hofman) Solsma, was born August 16, 1934 at Sanborn, IA. She and her siblings grew up on a farm near Sanborn. She received her education at Sanborn and graduated from Sanborn High School. On December 5, 1951, Arleen was united in marriage to Harold Boneschans at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Sanborn for the first five years. In 1956, they relocated to California where they raised their three daughters: Ruth, Ronda, and Roxana. Along with taking care of her growing family, Arleen was also employed as a bookkeeper for Adohr Farms. In 1981, Harold and Arleen moved back to Sanborn and opened the Sanborn Drive-In. They returned to California once again in 1984. While living there, Arleen and a close friend of hers managed several mobile home parks together until Arleen's retirement. In 1996, Harold and Arleen moved back one last time to their home state of Iowa, and settled in Melvin. When Harold passed away in 2007, Arleen became involved in the Foster Grandparents Program which was sponsored through the local school. She also volunteered with Hospice, which gave her a great sense of satisfaction and comfort, as well as many new friends. Arleen moved to Sheldon, IA in March of 2014. She enjoyed traveling, concerts in the park, and music - whether it was a musical group, or her own Pastor Paul. She always loved to garden; growing flowers and vegetables and canning the produce. Throughout her life, Arleen stayed close to the church wherever she lived. She belonged to the First Reformed Church in Sanborn, the Bethel Reformed Church in Bellflower, CA, and the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. She was a member of the Sunday School as well as the Bible Study Group. Arleen passed from this life on April 24, 2015 at the age of 80 years. Thankful for having shared her life are her children: Ruth (Jay) Ter Keurst of Victorville, CA, Ronda Graves of Riverside, CA, and Roxana Boneschans of Salinas, CA; her brother, John (Sharon) Solsma of Sanborn, IA; her sister, Marjorie (John) Ruinia of Estelline, SD; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold; her parents, Joe and Agnes; and siblings: Joey and Darla. Celebration of Life Arleen J.
