Obituary of Darren Prins

Darren Paul Prins, the son of Mark Prins and Judy (Fransen) Prins was born in Alamosa, CO on June 2, 1983. When he was five years old, his family relocated to Sanborn, IA. He received his education at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School, graduating with the class of 2002. While visiting his grandparents many summers in Alamosa, Darren worked at his grandparent's dairy, G & B Dairy, as well as Evergreen Nursing Home. During his high school years, he worked at Fiesta Foods in Hartley, IA. In Sanborn, Darren was employed by the City of Sanborn, Sybesma Graphics, and the Pizza Ranch. Currently, he had been employed by the Sanborn Golf and Country Club as their greens keeper. Darren, often referred to as "Big D" or "Bud", was an avid NASCAR/Auto Racing fan and loved going to the races in Alta, Knoxville, and the Iowa Speedway at Newton, IA. When the weather was right, he enjoyed being outdoors, either golfing, fishing or hunting. Professional Bull Riding and Pro-Wrestling were favorite spectator sports for him on television, and the Denver Broncos football team always had to win. When it came to music, Darren would tune in (nice and loud) to good-old Rock 'n Roll. With all of his interests and activities, it was still a pleasure to visit the family farm in Alamosa and see all the relatives out there. Darren attended the Christian Reformed Church while living at Alamosa, and the First Reformed Church after moving to Sanborn. He passed from this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the age of 31. Left to cherish his memory are his father, Mark (Lisa) Prins of Sanborn, IA; his mother, Judy Prins of Sanborn, IA; brothers: Brandon (Jessica) Prins of Alta, IA, and Michael Prins of Sanborn, IA; grandparents, Maureen Prins of Sanborn, IA, Gilbert and Barbara Fransen of Alamosa, CO; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, John and Margaret Prins; uncles: Paul Prins and Gilbert J. Fransen, Jr.; and cousin, Chad Fransen.
