Obituary of Travis Raveling

Travis Lee Raveling, oldest son of Bruce L. and Lori J. (Peterson) Raveling, was born November 2, 1979 in Worthington, MN. A second son, Brennan, would complete the family. Travis spent his youth in Melvin, IA and received his education at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, graduating with the class of 1998. Following graduation, Travis continued working for the family business, Raveling, Inc., located in Melvin. He was fortunate to have first-hand experience in all aspects of the business, having worked side-by-side with his Dad since he was a boy. Eventually, he focused on sales; drafting plans and bidding jobs for the company. In his off-hours, Travis spent most of his time outdoors. He enjoyed golfing and fishing in the summer months; snowmobiling in the winter. Hanging out with his friends at the lake, either on the boat or with a pole in his hand was pure pleasure. Yet, between work and relaxation, his greatest delight was found in his little niece, Lainie, whom he dearly adored. Travis was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Melvin where he was baptized and confirmed. He passed from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the age of 35. Thankful for having shared his life are his parents, Bruce and Lori Raveling of Melvin, IA; his brother, Brennan Raveling and one niece, Lainie Raveling, both of Melvin; his grandmother, Betty Raveling of Sanborn, IA; aunts, uncles, cousins; other relatives and many friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Dean and Jean Peterson, and Lloyd Raveling.
