Obituary of Andrew Schiphoff

Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrew "Andy" Schiphoff was born March 23, 1932 to John and Charlena (Van Dyke) Schiphoff at Melvin, Iowa. He spent his youth in the Melvin area and attended the local country school through the 8th grade. On January 18, 1963, Andy married Ruth Mae Bultsma at the Platte Christian Reformed Church in Platte, SD. The couple farmed in the area of Harris and May City, IA and maintained a dairy herd as well. There were four children born to this union: Nic O' Lena, Jay, Daphne, and Dixon. In 2010, Andy and Ruth retired from farming and moved to the town of Sibley, IA. Andy was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church in Melvin and had served on its Consistory Board. He always looked forward to visiting with friends and spending time with his family. When the children were still home, they enjoyed going on vacations together, and continued to do so after they were grown with families of their own, making for lots of wonderful memories. Andy was a real "outdoors" person; from hunting and fishing to gardening and trapping, but when it came to sports...baseball was his passion. He had played many games himself when he was younger, and over the years, the NY Yankees became his "#1 Team". This past year, he spent much of his time with Ruth at the nursing home, but was looking forward to the upcoming baseball season. Andy passed from this life on February 25, 2015 at the age of 82. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth of Sibley, and their children: Nicie and her husband, Larry Bosch, Dylan, Brandon and Jordan of Steen, MN, Daphne and her husband, Randy Bremer, Dalten and Tayler of Ocheyedan, IA, Dixon and Kari (Soden) Schiphoff, Colton, Dawson, and Lawton of Hartley, IA; daughter-in-law, Anita (Petersen) Schiphoff, and son, David Brinkman of Harris, IA; his sister, Julia "Judy" Peters of Sibley, IA ; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Charlena; his son, Jay Schiphoff; brothers: Peter Schiphoff and John Schiphoff, Jr.; half-brothers: LeRoy Walker, John Walker, Albert Schiphoff and Clarence Schiphoff; half-sisters: Isabel (Walker) Swalve and Margaret (Walker) Roede.
