Memorial Tribute
Dick S. Hofman, son of Ben and Kate (Bonnes) Hofman, was born February 9, 1930 at Sanborn, IA. He spent his childhood years in the Sanborn area and received his education at the Sanborn Christian School.
On March 16, 1951, Dick was united in marriage to Pauline "Polly" Prince at the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn. The couple made their home on a farm near Sanborn where they raised their twin daughters, Donna, and Kathryn. After 50 years of farming south of the Sanborn Golf Course, Dick and Pauline retired to the town of Sanborn in 2004.
Dick farmed his entire life - and loved what he did, but if he could find a break in the farm work, he would grab his fishing pole and head to the lake. Summer or winter, didn't matter. He also found great enjoyment in traveling with Polly to different locations.
Dick was a member of the Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Sanborn. In 2013, he moved to the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, and passed away there on February 22, 2015 at the age of 85.
He is survived by his daughters: Donna Hofman and Kathryn Hofman, both of Sanborn; one brother-in-law, Donald (Marilyn) Prince of Grand Rapids, MI; two sisters-in-law: Viola Wolthuizen and Lucille Hofman both of Sanborn; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ben and Kate; his wife, Polly on April 1, 2014; his brother, John Hofman; and sisters: Agnes Solsma, Engelina Damstra, Cornelia Solsma, Gertrude Hengeveld, Bertha Meernik, and Dorthy Bosma.
