Jason Dean Van Otterloo was born on October 27, 1980 in Long Beach, CA. He and his parents moved to Sheldon, IA in May of 1983. He received his education at the Sheldon Community School. During his Junior year of high school, he was inducted into the National Honor Society and graduated in May of 1999. He attended the fall semester at Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA, but returned home due to health complications. He then attended classes at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. In 2011, Jason graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Religion. Watching White Sox baseball games or Vikings and Hawkeye football games was a favorite pastime for Jason. When there wasn't a game on, catching a movie on T.V. with his family was entertaining. He would go golfing with his Dad, sister and grandparents or take in a Christian concert in the area. He always enjoyed eating out, visiting with friends or just messing around with his cat and dogs. Jason was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Sheldon, IA since 2010, and participated in the Men's Bible Study Group. In August, 2013, Jason moved to The Ambassador in Omaha, NE. He passed from this life on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the age of 33. He is survived by his mother, Barb Van Otterloo of Blair, NE; his father, Ron (Deb) Van Otterloo of Orange City, IA; sister, Jenn Van Otterloo of Blair, NE; two half-sisters: Krystal (Carlos) and their family of Hayward, CA, and Candice (Jaime) and their family of Sheldon, IA; four nephews; one niece; maternal grandparents: Henry and Lois Gruis of Worthington, MN, and Shirley Postma of Sanborn, IA; paternal grandparents, Harold and Sharon Van Otterloo of Seal Beach, CA; one great-grandmother, Helen Vogel of Artesia, CA; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
