Obituary of David Stopsack
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Delray Stopsack was born on April 13, 1948 at Hartley, IA to Herman and Lavaune (Linder) Stopsack. He lived out his youth in the Hartley area and received his education at Hartley Public School, graduating with the class of 1966.
David served his country in the U.S Army from 1966 to 1968, never having to leave American soil. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Hartley area where he was engaged in row-crop farming and dairying with his father, Herman. His military service continued as a member of the Iowa National Guard.
When farming would allow, David enjoyed doing carpentry work as well. He also participated in the Clay County Fair at Spencer, IA for several years where he showed cattle. Agriculture was David's main interest; even when he kicked back and relaxed, one of his favorite things to do was watch a "good-old cowboy show". A game of cards with the guys, or an afternoon spent fishing were some of his other pastimes.
Due to health issues, David entered Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, IA on June 20, 2013. He passed away there on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the age of 66.
Left to cherish his memory are his special friend, Shelley Kruger of Sanborn, IA; Shelley's children: Jill (Paul) Schuler and family, Jennifer (Marc) Anderson and family, Jason (Tyanne) Kruger and family; other relatives, and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lavaune.
