Obituary of Gloria Lux

Gloria Lettie Lux, daughter of Freeman and Wealthy (Gable) Albright, was born January 12, 1928 in Hartley, Iowa. She grew up on a farm southwest of Hartley along with her brother, Merle and sister, Virginia. She attended country school in the Hartley area, and graduated from Hartley High School with the class of 1944. Following high school, Gloria obtained her Teaching Certificate and taught in the country school system near Hartley for four years. On June 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Marvin Earl Lux also of Hartley. To this union, three sons were born: Keith M. in 1951, Randall F. in 1954, and Duane E. in 1956. Gloria and Marvin raised their family and were engaged in farming on the George Albright farmstead for 25 years; moving into the town of Hartley in 1982. They enjoyed socializing with friends and dancing at the Roof Garden at Okoboji or Neebel's Danceland in Hartley. They celebrated 58 years of married life before Marvin's passing on March 1, 2008. Gloria moved to the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley where she enjoyed playing cards or working crossword puzzles. When she found some quiet time, she loved to read a good book. On Monday, May 12, 2014, Gloria passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA at the age of 86. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Keith (Kristy) Lux of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Randy Lux of LaQuinta, CA; three grandchildren: Carolyn Lux of Denver, CO, David (Kori) Lux of Everly, IA, and Tate Lux of Scottsdale, AZ; three great-grandchildren: Davin, Dixon and Dakoda Lux; sister, Virginia Pflanz of Sioux City, IA; brother, Merle (Jo) Albright of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Leona Geerdes of Urbandale, IA; other relatives and many friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; and her infant son, Duane. Celebration of Life Gloria L.
