Please share a memory of Luetta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Luetta Dorothy Treimer, the daughter of Louie and Celia (Westphal) Larsen, was born on July 27, 1927, in Primghar, IA. "Lu" graduated from Primghar High School in 1945 and received the degree of Graduate Dental Hygienist from the University of Minnesota in 1947. She began working as a dental hygienist for the late Doc and Louise Bolender in Primghar, IA. During the summer of 1950, Lu met her beloved husband of 62 years, Donald Treimer. They were joined in marriage on March 17, 1951, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and lived together in Hartley, IA where they raised two children, David and Ann.
Lu and Donald were long-time members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. She was passionate about politics, golf, bridge and travel. She played in several card clubs, participated in four-gal best balls and “Swinging Chicks”, attended summer theatre, frequented the “Lakes,” and dined with Red Hat members on a regular basis. Together with Donald and their friends, she was a regular at Pete's, Barb's, Jay's and Tweeter's, to name a few.
Lu was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her delicious sugar cookies and loved to create special holiday memories. Lu always saw the best in people and had a radiant smile for everyone who came into her life. She loved her Donald: he was her diamond in the rough.
She is survived by her husband and her two adored children: David (Cathy) Treimer of Hartley, IA, and Ann Treimer of Oak Park, IL; her treasured grandchildren: Abigail (Ben) Bunge of Des Moines, IA, Sarah (Chris) Hunt of Plymouth, MN, Eric and Charles Lindquist of Oak Park, IL; her great-grandson: Aiden Bunge; her brother: Roger (Ardith) Larsen of Creve Cove, MO; her sister: Patricia Harmon of Arnold, MO; her sister-in-law: Doris Treimer of Hartley, IA; two Aunts: Lillian Mitchell of Bellflower, CA and Irene Sheeder of Boise, ID; many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous long time friends.
Lu was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, William and Emma Treimer; four brothers-in-law, Wayne Treimer, Wilbert Treimer, Virgil Treimer and Wayne Harmon; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Treimer and Babe DeYoung; and many treasured friends and relatives.
