Obituary of Raymond Webber

Raymond John Webber, the son of John and Minnie (Storm) Webber, was born near Archer, IA on March 10, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn, IA. Ray received his early education in a country school near his home. When he was 15, Ray moved with his family to Clarkfield, MN where they continued farming together. On October 31, 1946, Ray was united in marriage to Murine Margaret Schewe at the Ministers Home in Canby, MN. To this union three children were born; Keith, Kurt and Karen. They began their married life in Ivanhoe, MN farming together for five years. They lived in Elkton, SD and Taronto, SD each for a few years. The family then moved to a farm S.W. of Moneta in 1954 where he worked as a farm hand for Jake Japenga. In 1958 they moved into the town of Hartley while Ray worked at the Hartley Creamery. While in Hartley he was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In 1960 the family moved to Spencer where Ray worked for at the Spencer Pack for 17 years. In 1977 Ray and Murine moved to farm near Ruthven, IA where Ray worked as an Independent Painter and later raised and sold Christmas Trees for 14 years. On March 10, 2011 Ray entered the Ruthven Community Care Center and passed away there on Monday, December 24, 2012 at the age of 91. Ray’s hobbies included fishing, tinkering, small engine repair and animals. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Murine; his children: Keith Webber and his wife, Judy, of Hartley, IA, Kurt Webber of Fort Worth, TX, and Karen Webber of Ruthven, IA; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister: Dorothy Nelson of Bedford, TX; brother-in-law: LuVerne Schewe and his wife, Donna, of Granite Falls, MN; other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and three great grandchildren. In loving memory Raymond J.
