Alberta Elizabeth (Roeder) Jatho - Dahnke, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Halbmaire) Roeder was born on December 4, 1924, in Arthur, IA. She lived out her childhood in the Arthur Area, graduating from Arthur High school in 1942. She then went on to obtain a teaching certificate. On June 17, 1947 she was united in marriage to Elwayne Jatho in Ida Grove at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Hartley, Iowa, where they made their home north east of town and farmed. They moved to Hartley in 1978 after retiring from farming. During their 33 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children: Larry, Carol, Alan and Nancy. Elwayne passed away in October of 1980. Alberta was united in marriage to Gerald Dahnke in 1987, with her father Albert Roeder giving her hand in marriage. They resided in Hartley. Gerald passed away in September of 2010. Alberta continued living in Hartley and passed away at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on May 27, 2012 at the age of 87. Throughout the years, Alberta was very involved with St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, was a member of Friday Club and was a 4-H leader. She also spent some time working at Foodland. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time playing cards, going dancing, golfing and bowling. She was involved with the “Investment Center” and had a passion for flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands: Elwayne and Gerald; one grandson, Justin Rieck; a grandson-in-law, SSG LeRoy Webster; a brother, Urban Roeder; one sister, Gerogia Zentz. Left to cherish her memory are her children and their families: Larry Jatho and his wife, Kathy of Lansing, IA, Carol Wellcome and her husband, Ralph of Sheldon, IA, Alan Jatho and his wife, Karen of Hartley, IA and Nancy Rieck and her husband, David of Hartley, IA; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one brother: Florian Roeder and his special friend Dolores of Mitchell, SD; two sisters: Ann Ocken, and her husband Frank of Omaha, NE and Cecilia Mary Kautzky and her husband, Robert of Perry, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends In loving memory of Alberta Jatho - Dahnke Born ~ December 4, 1924 Died ~ May 27, 2012 Age ~ 87 years 5 months 23 days Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Hartley, Iowa Officiating ~ Fr.
