Obituary of Wilma Hibbing

Wilma Mardell Koester was born near Paullina, Iowa, on September 25, 1928, to William and Alma (Miller) Koester. Following her school years Wilma worked at First National Bank in Paullina, IA until her marriage. On February 19th, 1950, she was united in marriage to Reinhard Hibbing of Paullina, IA at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, IA. Following their marriage the couple started farming at Gaza, IA. To this union four children were born Bill, Mary, Bob, and Dick. Reiny and Wilma moved in 1958 to a farm near Dickens, IA, to Everly, IA in 1963, and then to Hartley, IA in 1965, where they had reached the first farm of their own. This became their homestead, from which all of their children were launched into the world. In 1989, Reiny and Wilma left the farm and moved into Hartley, IA where they have resided until Wilma’s death on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the age of 83. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter and his wife Lucille, and her sisters-in-law JoAnne Callenius Koester (Webster’s first wife), Wanda Hibbing, and Lela Hibbing. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Reiny, of Hartley, IA; her son Bill and wife Josie and their children Jonathan, Cheyenne, David, Daniel, James, Cherryenne, Cherrylenne, and Charlenne all of Hartley; IA, her daughter Mary and husband Rick Harvey of Norman, OK, and their children Gabrielle, of Iowa City, IA, Theresa of Norman, OK, Benjamin (and Amanda) of Wichita, KS, Christina of Dallas, TX, and Petrina (and Jerimiah) Johnson of Janesville, WI; her son Bob and wife Patty of Decorah, IA, and their children Tim (and Jessica) of Ames, IA, Grace and Luke of Decorah, IA, Neva (and John) Burdine of Ames, IA, and Paul of Ames, IA; and her son Dick and wife Joleen of Webster City, IA, and their children Janelle of Austin, TX, and Kyle of Storm Lake, IA. Wilma is also survived by her brother Weber Koester and his wife Joan of Paullina, IA, her sister Wanabelle Koester of Omaha, NE, her brothers-in-law Herb Hibbing and Arnie (Jean) Hibbing of Paullina, IA, and her beloved great grandchildren Blair, London, and Colton Hibbing of Ames, IA, Atalya Harvey of Wichita, KS, and Simeon Johnson of Janesville, WI. Wilma loved her family; her memory will long be treasured in the hearts of her loved ones. In Celebration of Life Wilma M.
