Obituary of Tillie Anema

Tillie Anema, the daughter of John and Tillie (Hop) Dirksen was born at Lebanon, Iowa on August 12 1917. She grew up in various Sioux County communities and attended the Lebanon Christian School. Tillie was united in marriage to Fred Anema on March 5, 1939 at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church in Lebanon, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived and farmed in several communities including Ireton, Sanborn, Sheldon, Melvin and Sibley. They retired in Sanborn in 1981 and moved together to Prairie View in April 2004. Fred passed away April 25, 2004. Tillie went to her heavenly home peacefully on February 29, 2012. Tillie is survived by her 11 children: Kathryn and Charles Vaandrager of Sheldon, IA., John and Karen Anema of Sanborn, IA. , Paul and Trudy Anema of Sanborn, IA. , Thresa and Harlyn Jacobsma of Orange City, IA. , Vernon (Vern) and Sharlene Anema of Sioux Falls, S.D., Frederick (Fred) and Faye Anema of Sanborn, IA. , Robert (Bob) and Marsha Anema of Sanborn, IA. , James(Jim) and Jane Anema of Sioux Center, IA. , Marvin (Marv) and Carol Anema of Sanborn, IA. , Jeffrey (Jeff) Anema of Alton, IA. , and Sandra and Patrick Ferrie of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 46 grandchildren; 98 great- grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step- great-grandchildren; one sister Hermina and Bud Jansma of Seal Beach, CA. ; one brother William(Bill) and Ila Dirksen of Ripon, CA.; two sister-in-laws: Minnie Dirksen of Ripon, CA. and Josie and Ben Mulder of Pella, IA. and brother-in-law Clarence Anema of Ireton, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, parents, 7 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 great-grandchild. Tillie was a member of the Cornerstone United Reformed Church of Sanborn, IA. She was active in Church and Christian School activities. Tillie delighted in her children and grandchildren and they in turn loved her. Tillie’s home had an “open door” policy. Many friends and family over the years found a warm and welcome place to visit because of her hospitality. Her warmth did not end there. Over the years she made many friends because of her loving and caring nature.
