Obituary of Agnes Horstman

Agnes Dorothy (Bajema) Horstman, the daughter of Barney and Johanna (VanDen Bosch) Bajema went home to be with her Savior after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Growing up on a farm outside of Rock Valley, Agnes attended Rock Valley Christian School and graduated from Western Christian High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, Marion J. Horstman, on April 25, 1951 in Rock Valley. Shortly after marriage, Marion and Agnes were stationed with the Army in Louisiana until Marion was shipped overseas for a tour in Korea. Returning to Sanborn, Agnes worked for Bell Telephone in Sheldon. She then dedicated her life to raising her four sons, doing all the bookwork for Horstman Construction, and serving in both Sanborn Christian Reformed Church and Sanborn Christian School. Known for her servant’s heart, sense of humor, attention to details, and open home, Agnes enjoyed baking, sewing, board games, puzzles and sharing stories over a cup of coffee. The embodiment of a Proverbs 31 woman, she loved her husband, devoted her energy to her children, remained a constant friend, adored her 10 grandchildren and faithfully served her Lord Jesus. Agnes will be dearly missed by all those privileged enough to know her.
