Obituary of Carol Mulder

Carol LaVonne (Knott) Mulder, the daughter of Richard and Leila (Pettijohn) Knott, was born on December 27, 1928, in Windom, MN. She spent her childhood years in Hartley, IA, where she attended the local schools. She graduated from Hartley High School with the class of 1947. On June 22, 1947, she married Merle L. Mulder in Hartley at the United Methodist Church. To this union four children were born John, Merlene, Kara and Richard. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Sanborn for six years before moving to Hartley in 1953. Carol worked for Aalfs and National Spencer. In her retirement years she made baby comforters and donated them to the Young Women’s Resource Center in Des Moines. Following a brief illness Carol passed away on October 23, 2011 at the age of 82 at the Mercy medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Carol was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered by family and friends for her decorating of her home for all the holidays. Left to cherish her memory is are her four children: John Mulder and his wife, Deb, of Riceville, IA, Merlene Mulder of Des Moines, IA, Kara Mason of Spencer, IA, and Richard Mulder of Hartley, IA; six grandchildren: Matthew Craft, Adam and his wife, Amber, Casie Mulder, Lucas, Paul and Beau Mason; three great grandchildren: Hannah Craft, Tehya Mulder and Damion Rolberg; two brothers: Greg Donnenwerth and his wife, Esther, of Memphis, TN, Darwyn Donnenworth and his wife, Jan, of Woodlands, TX; one sister: Gloria Muhs and her husband, Wayne, of Fairfield Bay, AR; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Merle, granddaughter Tammie Sue Craft and son-in-law Jeff Mason. In loving memory of Carol L.
