Obituary of Thomas Bracker

Thomas Alan Bracker, the son of Donald and LaVonne (Stegemann) Bracker, was born in Sibley, Iowa on August 14, 1955. His childhood years were spent in Melvin where he graduated from Melvin Public High School in 1973. He attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA for two years. Following his school years, Tom worked for his father at the Bracker Lumber Company in Melvin for 14 years. He then spent 18 years at the AGP soybean processing plant in Sheldon. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Melvin. He served on the Melvin Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. Following a lengthy illness, Tom passed away at his home on Monday, September 5, 2011, at the age of 56. He enjoyed playing cards, river fishing, spending time on the computer, and collecting coins. Spending time with family and friends, helping them with their special projects, was a great joy to him. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, LaVonne of Melvin, and sister, Sue Hurd and her husband Ron of Urbandale, IA; three nephews, Aaron, Thomas and Nathan Hurd all of Urbandale; a niece, Melissa Cardwell of Snowflake, AZ; other relatives and many friends. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Donald Bracker in 1999, and brother, Todd Bracker in 1982.
