Obituary of Margaret Wolthuizen

Margaret Janet Wolthuizen, the daughter of Jacob and Ida (DeVries) Wolthuizen, was born at Onaka, SD, on August 19, 1925. Margaret moved with her family to Sanborn, IA, in 1930, where she lived her youth and received her education. She graduated from the Sanborn High School in 1944. Margaret moved to Minneapolis, MN, in 1946, where she was employed at the Sunshine Biscuit Company from 1946-1958. She then attended nurse’s training in St. Paul, MN, from 1958-1959, and received her LPN diploma. Margaret was a devoted nurse and thoroughly loved her vocation. She had been employed at Miller Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and United Hospital. Much of her time was spent working with new moms and babes in the OB department. Margaret was baptized in the Presbyterian faith on April 18, 1938. She had attended the Oliver Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, MN. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and will be remembered for her nurturing heart and constant desire to help others. She moved to Luverne, MN, in May, 2002. She passed away at Good Samaritan Society-Mary Jane Brown in Luverne on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the age of 85. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Verna Wolthuizen of Pierz, MN, and Viola Wolthuizen of Luverne, MN; her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews: Brenda Weiss and family, Betty Ann Miller and Jerry, Terry, Pam Smith and Kimberly, Jerry Wolthuizen, Myrna Juetten and family, Audrey Otterness and family, Dolly and Ed Foland, Jeff, Patrick, Cherie, Pam and families, Jean Anderson, Dan, Laura Smith and family, Heather, Bob Carlson and family, Nancy, Joe Mulder and family, Dale Wolthuizen and daughter Taylor; cousins Andy Wolthuizen, Clarence and Helen Wolthuizen; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Emma Tifft and Fannie Smith; three brothers, Marion, Joe and Harvey.
