Obituary of Van Meekeren

Memorial Tribute Bertha Van Meekeren, the daughter of Jake and Winnie Van Meekeren, was born on a farm near Matlock, Iowa, on July 26, 1921. She spent her childhood years on the family farm west of Sanborn and attended country school. Bertha was a housekeeper for many area families and often helped out when new babies were born. She enjoyed scrapbooking and was an avid reader. She was very happy to be living on the family farm. She passed away there on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Agnes and Marian, and a brother, Ron. She is survived by her brother, Clarence (Jean) Van Meekeren of Okoboji, Iowa, sister, Martena (Garret) Doorlag of Portage, Michigan, and sister-in-law, Louetta Van Meekeren of Sheldon, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
