Obituary of Arthur Paulsen

Arthur Peter Paulsen, the son of Walter and Bertha (Shipemann) Paulsen, was born on September 12, 1926, on a farm near Hartley, Iowa. He was baptized on October 24, 1926 and confirmed on May 24, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He attended Hartley public School and graduated in 1945. Arthur went on to attend the University of Iowa; on November 8, 1946 he joined the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in commerce. After graduating from the University of Iowa, Arthur went to work for Treimer’s Insurance in Hartley and later Allied Insurance in Des Moines. He retired in 1988 and moved back to Hartley. Arthur moved to the Sutherland Care Center in 2006 and passed away there on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the age of 84. Arthur enjoyed following local and college sports teams, especially the University of Iowa Hawkeye’s. He was a regular visitor to the Hartley Public Library where he kept current with his sports teams. Left to cherish his memory is his cousin Irene Schuknecht of Sutherland, IA, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Celebrating the life of Arthur P.
