Obituary of Norene Sanders

Fay Norene (Rowe) Sanders, the daughter of Clarence and Esther (Timmerman) Rowe, was born on May 4, 1921 near Archer, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Sanders on August 18, 1941 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. They were one of three generations in the Sanders family to be married on August 18th. To this union three children were born: Rick, Greg and Lori. Following their marriage the couple operated the Sanders Lockers, were the owners and operators of the Sanders Motel, and for many years the couple operated the Princess Theater; Rosie made the popcorn and Dick ran the projector. Following their retirement the couple continued to live in Sanborn. In July of 2008 the couple moved to Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, IA, where Dick passed away on March 13, 2009. Rosie moved to Kuiper Villa following Dick's passing and passed away there on Saturday June 26, 2010, at the age of 89. Rosie was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and picking raspberries that she grew. In her earlier days she liked to bowl and play Canasta. Rosie loved to prepare meals and will be remembered for her delicious pies and cookies. Christmas was a special time for her. Most of all she loved spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dick and Rosie were life-long friends of Ray and Lavonne Porth; they always celebrated their wedding anniversaries together. She is survived by her three children: Rick Sanders and his wife Carol, of Merrill, IA, Greg Sanders of Sheldon, IA, and Lori Brinkman and her husband, Rick, of Arnolds Park, IA; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Rhonda (Todd) Hogan of Sioux City, IA and their children, Ryan, Troy, and Travis, Renae (Mike) Yost of Noel, MO, Heather Simons of Sanborn, IA and her sons, Troy and Blake, Tim (Anne) Brinkman of Sanborn, IA and their children Summer and Mason. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Gladys Berrell, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Sanders.
