Jack Marvin Dolphin the son of George and Edna (Block) Dolphin was born in Hospers, IA on December 9, 1934. He grew up in the Archer and Sanborn, IA area and attended Archer Public School.
On July 30, 1954 Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country for three years. While serving his country Jack was united in marriage to Virginia Soop in Yuma, AZ. Following their marriage the couple resided in Oceanside, CA until Jack’s Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps. The couple were blessed with six children, Launie, Todd, Wade, Eric, Melanie and Bret. In 1957 the family moved to Northwest, IA where they raised their family and Jack started his own business. Jack passed away at the Sanford Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the age of 75.
Jack had many interest and hobbies but enjoyed fishing, racing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife Virginia of 54 years; his children: Launie Dolphin of Spirit Lake, IA, Todd (Jen) Dolphin of Cedar Rapids, IA, Wade (Richelle) Dolphin of Monument, CO, Eric (Shirley) Dolphin of Lake, Park, IA, Melanie (Michael) Ward of Hartley, IA, and Bret (Roxann) Dolphin of Hartley, IA; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother Steve (Denise) Dolphin of Winnemucca, NV; a sister Pam (Vern) Hurtig of Wadena, MN; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Larry Dolphin and a sister Rita Hulley.
