Obituary of Charlotte Decklever

Charlotte Ann Decklever, age 67 of Hartley, Iowa passed away Monday, November 23, 2009, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa, surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born on November 10, 1942 in Sanborn, Iowa; the daughter of Hazel (Sittler) and Marion Koele. She attended Harrison Township School and graduated from Hartley High School. Charlotte became a beautician after attending La James Beauty School in Mason City, Iowa. She married Dean Decklever on June 15, 1963. Their daughter Carrie was born in Osage, Iowa on May 19, 1974. The family lived in Orchard, Iowa before moving to South Dakota. Charlotte and Carrie moved to Hartley where Charlotte lived for 28 years. She later earned an Associate of Science Degree in Commercial Art from Iowa Lakes Community College. Her love of nature was evident in her art, which included painting, photography and fiber arts. Charlotte looked to Jesus to guide her every step and found peace in Him. She never stopped striving to live a more perfect life. Family was of paramount importance to Charlotte; she was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin, and a loyal friend to many. Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Marion Koele, an infant son, Daniel, a sister, Charmaine Hersom, and a nephew, Shane Marion Koele. She is survived by her daughter Carrie and her husband, Omar Choudhury of Des Moines, Iowa, her mother Hazel Rons of Hartley, one sister Sharolyn (Dick) Jacobson, and two brothers, Keith (Darlene) Koele, and Craig (Kathryn) Koele.
