Obituary of Faye Huibregtse

Please share a memory of Faye to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Faye was born on March 13, 1908 at the family farm home east of Sanborn to Amy (Hakeman) Raymond and Ross L. Raymond, the second of eight children. Faye spent her childhood on the family farm and attended grade school in the country school just across the road. After graduation from the 8th grade, Faye attended Sanborn High School and graduated at the age of 17 in the Class of 1925. She attended Iowa Normal College in Cedar Falls until she turned 18 when she began to teach country school where she had attended. Faye was also the oldest living graduate of S.H.S. as well as the oldest resident of Sanborn at the time of her passing. On May 25, 1930, Faye was married to her high school sweetheart, Edward John Huibregtse at the parsonage of the First Presbyterian Church in Sanborn. They moved to a farm just east of her home and lived there until 1938 when they moved to a farm south of Sanborn where she lived until 1972. She moved into the town of Sanborn in March of 1972 after the death of her husband in August of 1971. She lived there until she moved to Prairie View in 2003 where she remained a resident until the time of her death. To this union three children were born. Her first baby died at the time of his birth. Her son Raymond Edward was born in 1936 and her daughter Allene Faye was born in 1942. Faye was a wonderful mother and worked hard to raise her children in a loving way. She was always supportive in all of their activities at school and in their 4-H and church activities. She was a hard-working homemaker over the years supporting her husband in his farm work and activities that he was involved in. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church and worked as a Sunday School Teacher for many years, was active in church circles, Presbyterian Women’s Association and whatever other needs there were at the church. She was also a member of the Summit Township Farm Bureau Women for many years and the Music Mother’s at Sanborn High School. In the early years of her marriage, she was a 4-H Leader taking one of her Demonstration Teams to the Iowa State Fair. Faye and Ed took many trips over the years especially ‘out west’ to visit family and friends and check out the new calves that would arrive in the fall at the farm. She also enjoyed many family gatherings over the years and both she and Ed enjoyed their grandchildren and being involved in their activities. She is survived by her son Ray and his wife Mary Ann Huibregtse and daughter Allene Baichtal all of Sanborn, Iowa. Her three grandchildren are Steven Huibregtse of Austin, Texas, Leigh Anne (Guy) Wolfinger of Longmont, Colorado and Elizabeth (Tim) Carlson of Cedar Rapids. She also has seven Great Grandchildren, Andrea Wright of Seattle, Washington, Jon Huibregtse and Lynn Wolfinger of Austin, Texas, Lauren Wolfinger of Longmont, Colorado, Cliff (Laura) Carlson of Waterloo, Iowa, Rachel (Reggie) Whibbey of Atlanta, Georgia and Ann Carlson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving her are her three sisters Ruth Glazier of Sheldon, Iowa, Joyce Petrich and Harriett Warnke of Sanborn, Iowa and one brother Jay Raymond of Sanborn, Iowa. They are joined by a host of nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, her parents, sister Fern Baldwin, and brothers Merton Raymond and Lee Raymond as well as several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She will be missed by all who knew her along her life’s journey. A Celebration of Life Faye A.
