Obituary of Robert Kohn

Robert (Bob) William Kohn, the son of Peter and Mary (Dalhoff) Kohn was born on a farm near Maryhill, IA on February 21, 1933. He spent his childhood years near Maryhill, and later moved to Alta, IA. When he was 15, he and his family moved to Hartley, IA. In 1953, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and was in the 690th Field Artillery Battalion. He proudly served during the occupation of Germany. Bob was united in marriage to Audrey M. Sicard on August 27, 1955 in Hartley, IA. They resided in Hartley until moving to a farm outside of Hartley in October 1956. They retired in 1993 and moved to Hartley. Audrey died on Dec 22, 1998. Even though he was “retired”, Bob enjoyed working for Brad Paul and later, Ray Ahlers for several years. Bob passed away at his home on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the age of 76. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Bob’s special interests included farming, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Timothy and Sharon Kohn of Ashton, IA, Natalie and Bruce Anderson of Lakewood, CO, Randy and Denise Kohn of Sheldon, IA, Jeff and Deb Kohn of Harris, IA, and Mary and Scott Kennedy of Kingsley, IA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jake Moermond of Sutherland, IA and a very special friend, Joneva Currans of Emmetsburg, IA.
