James August Klein, the son of Henry and Evelyn (Kreber) Klein, was born in Granville, Iowa on April 3, 1932. He grew up in Granville, and attended St. Joseph’s School until the 8th grade. Jim farmed with his parents on their home place near Granville, and eventually took over the farming when his parents retired. He stayed on the farm until his own retirement. He then moved to Hartley, Iowa. He passed away at his home there on February 23, 2009. Jim was a very giving man, and had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville and Hartley, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include one sister, Mary Colwell of Tamarac, FL; seven nephews and two nieces; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Clara Croatt.
