Obituary of Grace Senn

Memorial Tribute Grace Ethel Senn, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Dickman) Griese, was born on January 31, 1925 on her family farm near Melvin, Iowa. She spent her childhood years in rural Melvin where she attended country school, and later graduated from Melvin High School. She was united in marriage to Adolph Senn on January 22, 1947 at her parent’s home. To this union three children were born Judy, Jim and Mark. Following their marriage Adolph worked for the Creamery in Hartley. Following his employment with the creamery the couple farmed near Hartley. Grace was a Homemaker, she raised chickens, canned many vegetables, enjoyed gardening and was a great cook. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley and the American Legion Auxiliary. Adolph and Grace were blessed with 50 years of marriage. The couple moved from the family farm in 1988 into the town of Hartley. In 1997 Adolph passed away. Grace continued to live in her home until August of 2008 when she moved to the Community Memorial Assisted living center. Following a brief illness Grace passed away at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the age of 84. Survivors include her children: Judy Nielson and her husband, Don, of Marshall, MN, Jim Senn and his wife, Lesta, of Oroville, CA and Mark Senn and his wife, Shirley, of Hartley, IA; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother: Irvin Griese, and an infant sister at birth. A Celebration of Life Grace E.
