Kenlyn Dorean (Newbern) Boelter was born on August 2, 1953, in Panama City, FL the daughter of Dean and Doretta (Zahn) Newbern. She attended school in Elkader, IA at Central Community Schools and graduated in 1971. Kenlyn went on to attend Kirkwood Community College earning a degree as a Dental Assistant. Following college Kenlyn worked for the University of Iowa College of Dentistry teaching dental students how to work with dental assistants. She also worked as the head assistant and office manager for the university’s mobile dental unit that traveled the state helping underprivileged families. On September 26, 1981, Kenlyn was united in marriage to Dr. Terry L. Boelter at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Sanborn. The couple was blessed with two children, Nicholas and Alison. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Sanborn where Terry had opened his dental practice. For one year Kenlyn worked as an assistant for Dr. John Synhorst in Spencer. For several years Kenlyn helped Terry as an assistant and later as his payroll secretary. She was well known as a devoted wife and mother always putting family first. Kenlyn was a woman of many talents, but chose to devote her life to motherhood. She loved spending time with family and friends boating and noodling at their lake home in Okoboji. Family vacations were a favorite of hers, especially if she could get time to read a favorite book.
