Obituary of Barry Cammann

Please share a memory of Barry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Memorial Tribute Barry Fitzgerald Cammann, the son of Sarah Tesso, was born in Bakersfield, CA on August 15, 1961. He grew up and received his education in Bakersfield. He was united in marriage to Brenda Ackerman on April 12, 1986. The couple made their home in the Bakersfield area, where Barry worked in the oil fields. They moved to Iowa in 1993, and settled in Melvin in 1995. For the past 15 years, he worked as a welder. He worked at Rome LTD for 11 years, Maintainer for 1 1/2 years, and was currently employed by Wimbco of Ottumwa, IA. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union. Barry passed away on October 4, 2008, while doing one of his favorite activities—riding his motorcycle. A man of many interests, Barry could teach himself to do almost anything, and then strived to do it well. He enjoyed hunting, playing darts and frisbee golf, shooting fireworks and participating in demolition derby. He was an avid “cheese head” (Go Packers!) and collected “funky” welders’ hats. He was a great dancer—he and Brenda loved to dance to country music. He was famous among friends and family for his karaoke version of “Margaritaville”. Most importantly, Barry was a man who took good care of his wife and family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Brenda of Melvin; his children: Kari and her husband Hentie Groenewald of Melvin, Cody of Melvin and Chris of Sheldon; one granddaughter, Madison; his mother Sarah Tesso of Sanborn; one brother Michael (Evelyn) Cammann of California; four sisters: Christine (Jim) Bryant of Sanborn, Terri Pomerleau of New Mexico, Irene Henley of Arkansas, and Nellie (Ted) Hall of California; Brenda’s family: her mother and step-father, Karen and Marvin Timmons of Melvin, her siblings: Becky (David) Heitritter of Melvin, Todd (Sue) Ackerman of Ocheyedan, Troy (Jackie) Ackerman of Sheldon, and Stan (Aggie) Ackerman of Hatfield, MN; a special friend, Vivian of Idaho; many nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Patrick, and Brenda’s father, Stan Ackerman. In Remembrance Barry F.
