Obituary of Opal Knock

Opal Blanche (Knapp) Knock, the daughter of Frank and Rika (Roelofsen) Knapp was born on January 17, 1917 in Melvin, Iowa. She spent her childhood years in Melvin, and graduated from Melvin High School.
On January 17, 1936 she married John Knock at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They spent their married life farming in the Melvin area. It was there that they raised their three children: Pat, Jacki, and Tony. John passed away in 1996. Opal moved to Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn in 2001. It was there that she passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the age of 91.
Opal was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. Many people admired her lovely flower garden on the farm. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Melvin. She will be remembered as a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her children and their families: Pat and her husband Doug Bosworth of Mahomet, IL, Jacki Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, and Tony Knock of Sibley, IA; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister Phyllis Benz; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; one brother Melvin Knapp; two sisters: Rose Steinmetz and Viola Martinek; and nine half-brothers and sisters.
