Memorial Tribute
Teryl “Terry” Paul Agena, the son of Joe V. and Evelyn (Schroder) Agena, was born on January 6, 1949 at Sibley, Iowa. He lived his youth in Osceola County, Iowa, and graduated from Sanborn Public High School. He went on to further his education at both Casper College in Casper, Wyoming, and Worthington Junior College in Worthington, Minnesota.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1970. During his tour of duty, he spent 14 months on the USS William C. Lawe. He married Dawn Hegdahl on February 14, 1978. They lived in the Sanborn area until moving to Casper, Wyoming in 1982. The couple later divorced. Terry moved back to Northwest Iowa in 2003.
Growing up, Terry had been active in 4-H. As an adult, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and camping. Terry could build just about anything with his hands, and was an excellent cook! He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He passed away at home in Sanborn on Friday, December 28, 2007 at the age of 58.
Survivors include his three children: Justin and his special friend Shara Sewell of Jackson, Wyoming, Nina and her special friend Aaron Kapfer,and Tyler and his special friend Stephanie Weber, all of Casper, Wyoming; two grandchildren, Haylee and Ethan; his mother Evelyn Agena of Sanborn; one brother Jack and his wife Sally Agena of Peoria, Arizona; one sister Judy and her husband Jim Arens of Remsen, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe, and one sister, Susan.
