Obituary of Lester Paulsen

Memorial Tribute Lester Peter Paulsen, son of Peter and Emma (Jager) Paulsen, was born on February 23, 1930 in rural Hartley. He attended country school and also Hartley public school. Following his school years, Lester went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Lester served his country faithfully during the Korean War, and received many service medals, including the Purple Heart. After serving his country, Lester, returned to Hartley where he was engaged in farming. On June 17, 1988 Lester married Marjorie (Menning) Taylor. Following their marriage the couple continued farming until retirement. Lester enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially the grandchildren. Even though he was retired he still loved to go out to the farm and help Steve. He and Marge attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They also enjoyed traveling in their retirement. Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Marjorie; three step-children: Kevin (Cathi) Taylor, of Ida Grove, IA, Sheri (John) Nixon, of Winston-Salem, NC, Steve (Cheryl) Taylor, of Hartley, IA; nine step-grandchildren: Kristopher (Angie) Taylor, of Ida Grove, IA, Kelley (Kirk) Haaland, of Ankeny, IA, Kimberley, Cayla and Caitie Taylor, all of Ida Grove, IA, Tyler Nixon, of Winston-Salem, NC, Joy, Travis and Valorie Taylor, all of Hartley, IA; two step-great grandchildren: Kaleb and Aubrey Taylor, of Ida Grove, IA; one sister: Irene Schuknecht, of Sutherland, IA; seven nieces and nephews: Dennis (Cindy) Hahn, of Spencer, IA, Carolyn (Frank) Morrow, of Cherokee, IA, Richard Schuknecht, of Sutherland, IA, Sherri (Richard) Johnson, of Cherokee, IA, Bruce (Karal) Schuknecht, of Sutherland, IA, Ronald (Sally) Schuknecht, of Paullina, IA and Donald (Diane) Schuknecht, of Fall Creek, WI, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Harold, and two brother-in-laws: Kerrill Hahn and Roy Schuknecht.
